jQuery Forum

My browser is Flock (FireFox 3.0 core) and the OS is Windows 7 on two different machines.. I also run Flock on my MacBook Air w/ Snow Leopard, and it too doesn't get the benefit of "remembering"..

None of those instances are very good at remembering the login for this forum, yet the browser remembers login information on other forums ans sites perfectly fine.......

There most definitely is some issue on this forum code, and myself and the original poster on this topic do not stand alone in having this (pretty annoying) issue

It wouldn't be so bad if the forums didn't have the super annoying Ajax "Loading" upon coming to the URL... because as it stands, i come on the forum, see that i am logged out... so i click login, Flock is prefilling the Username/Password fields, i (yet again) click "Remember Login", and then instead of going where I came from: "Using jQuery" is what i have bookmarked... I instead get redirected to the list of forums page, there's a two second delay, then the page throws up the Ajax "loading image" and reloads again.... then I have to choose that forum to visit....  that's just too much hassle for something that should work correctly from the get go....

Now, with all that said.. one thing I noticed that may help.....  I went through all the above steps and as I type this, here the address in the URL section

http://discussions.zoho.com/jquery/topic/not-remembering-log-in-between-sessions

i thought it was weird that the domain "forum.jquery.com" isn't there, so i opened a new tab, went to my bookmark (which again, is this exact url), and came to this topic, and the address in the URL section of that tab is:

http://forum.jquery.com/topic/not-remembering-log-in-between-sessions

that would for sure be an issue, since cookies are domain-name based

Today when I came to the forum I was not logged in.  As soon as I clicked on Log In it took me to my dashboard and I was 'logged in' even though I didn't do anything else.

 

So perhaps there's an issue with the main page not with cookies being forgotten?

This is just a bump to let you know that the forums still are not consistently remembering users. I have tried login through both Zoho and Google login and neither remembers the login. Fortunately since we've disabled guest posting it isn't as messy a problem as it used to be, but it is still there.

Here is some more specific information. I log in and set a cookie, then close the browser and reopen it to come back to the forum. I notice that the forum seems to do a quick redirect in order to log you in. The script that does that is failing. In IE I can see that happening in the debugger. I've attached screen shots.

The issue related to remembering log-in between sessions has been fixed.
